This was my 4th visit to Mumbai, but 1st one with family. My parents always talked about that city, which they had visited back in 70’s, I told them that the city has transformed now ! So this time we decided to take them along on this short but memorable trip to Mumbai. This was purely a sight-seeing trip and we wanted to stay at a hotel which could offer sea facing rooms, because that’s what fascinates a Delhite the most. After a lot of discussions and recommendations we zeroed on Trident Nariman Point Mumbai

Trident Nariman Point Mumbai

The Hotel is situated on Nariman Point. A beautiful property which offers excellent view, sadly they don’t provide any free pick or drop facility (for the guests) which some hotels do. Well we didn’t have much issues with that because ultimately our preferences were different.

Check in was smooth. We had pre-booked both the rooms through a travel agent. All the formalities took 10 minutes , one of the humble staff members gave a stuff toy to my daughter, which obviously made her ecstatic. Such small gestures add a personal touch to one’s stay and mean a lot to the guests.

We stayed at Trident for 3 nights 4 days, in sea view rooms. Rooms were quite spacious and had everything one needs during the stay. A nice corner with table, lamp and chair. One couch on the other corner of the room. An LCD tv, also the best thing was the blinds, which completely blocked the sunlight and you can sleep for hours peacefully. Both the rooms had king size beds and small but nice shower area.

I can’t explain how mesmerizing the view they offer ! I got to see the vast breathtaking sea every morning ! Sitting by the window, sipping on a cup of coffee was the definition of a perfect morning for me. Here are few pictures of the view, kindly excuse me for the quality, I didn’t carry my DSLR hence cell phone camera was the only option.

Can you see there is ample space to sit by the window. I used to sit there all the time .. !

The hotel has beautiful lobby and lifts, those lifts with golden interiors looked so luxe and royal ! We had breakfast every morning at Frangipani, which is a restaurant situated at the lower ground floor. The breakfast spread offered lots of variety and some on-request meals. Food was delicious. The staff is very attentive, courteous and helpful. I saw another restaurant opposite to Frangipani, India Jones, that name intrigued me a lot !

Hotel also has spa and swimming pool. I visited it on the last day, infect just before the checkout and god, I wanted to kick myself for not visiting that area before! Pool area is beautiful, and quite windy I must add. There is a small garden/play area for kids with swings at one corner.

Walk out of the hotel and you will see a taxis queued both at the front and back gates of the hotel. Finding transport is not an issue at all. Just cross the road and you will be at Famous Marine Drive, sit there for hours and enjoy the calm see.. well it wasn’t that calm when we visited Mumbai. We also took ride on Horse Drawn Carriage (Tanga) which was fun and sadly will be banned soon.

The hotel is 10 minutes from Colaba market where you can shop and dine. Prince Of Wales museum & Taraporewala Aquarium are just 15 minutes ride from the hotel.

So if you ever plan a trip to Mumbai and going there for the first time, I will highly recommend staying near nariman point or south side of Mumbai. Good for sight seeing.  Trident Nariman Point offers both sea and city facing rooms, at a marginal price difference. The stay there is always memorable, since the staff is quite humble, and helpful. Room service is quite fast and meals delicious, though high priced. I am surely going back to stay Hotel Trident Nariman Point again in my future visits to Mumbai.
