After a long break of one year we finally got a chance to run away from the busy maddening city life ! This time we chose a place which receives much love from Delhites – Nainital. Mere mention of this place makes me smile and feel happy about myself and surrounding. Hills always fascinate me though I am afraid of heights, how ironical ! We took Shatabdi to Kathgodam and then from there an hour long journey via road to the hotel. The Manu Maharani as the name suggests , a majestic property, situated in the heart of the city. We couldn’t have stayed in a better place than this I must add.
We stayed in premium room with a breathtaking view of hills and naini lake. I loved waking up to the view of those sleepy cloudy hills .. lush green …
Hotel The Manu Maharani came in to existence in 1991, however the property was refurbished in 2006. The hotel has this perfect blend of traditional – contemporary aura and a warm cozy vibe. We were welcomed warmly by the staff , and offered welcome drink which was made of a flower that grows on the hills.
There are 60+ rooms in the property , divided into 6 categories – Standard, Premium, Club, Terrace, Duplex & Suite. All the rooms are equipped with basic amenities and wooden , quite vintage-y wooden furniture. Our room (premium) offered a panoramic view of naini valley ..we could see the clouds flowing and vanishing into the air from our room window.
The room is not huge but quite spacious. Bathroom had all the basic toiletries – Shampoo, shower gel, moisturiser etc. I saw a bathing loofah which is something I haven’t seen in any of the hotels before. I love loofahs, its a girl thing, and the one they have is natural .. what more could I have asked for !
Hotel has 3 restaurants & a bakery. We used to have our breakfast & dinner at Gardenia. Must talk about the staff here – very humble, friendly, warm & simple , thats how I would describe them. The experience was outstanding , they always had an eye on our table, if we need anything, it used to come to us before we could even look for it. I am very pleased with the experience.
We were following a schedule for sight-seeing etc , hence room service was something I availed every morning. The order used to reach us within 15-20 minutes of ordering, in a well presented manner. I liked how the food tasted overall – in room as well as in the restaurant.
The property also has spa, salon & gym with steam & sauna.
House keeping etc was always on time, we used to come back to clean rooms.
The mall road is pretty near to the hotel, infact you can take a walk and reach there. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will always choose The Manu Maharani for my future trips to Nainital.
I will have a detailed travelogue up soon. You will see how much Nainital has to offer that some of us haven’t even discovered yet !
